Description
Vanilla magic custard cake is a unique dessert that bakes into three distinct layers: a light sponge top, creamy custard center, and dense base, all infused with delicate vanilla flavor.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cups milk, lukewarm
- 4 large eggs, separated
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 160°C (325°F) and grease an 8×8-inch baking pan.
- Whip egg whites until stiff peaks form; set aside.
- In a separate bowl, beat egg yolks with sugar until pale and creamy.
- Mix in melted butter and vanilla extract.
- Add flour and salt, mixing until smooth.
- Slowly whisk in lukewarm milk until fully combined (batter will be thin).
- Gently fold in egg whites in batches, leaving small lumps.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 45–50 minutes until lightly golden on top and slightly jiggly in the center.
- Cool completely, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
- Dust with powdered sugar before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Do not overmix after adding egg whites.
- Chilling helps the custard layer fully set.
- Use room-temperature eggs for best results.
