Description
A rich and flavorful skillet chicken dish inspired by Texas Roadhouse, featuring tender seared chicken breasts smothered in a creamy garlic butter sauce with herbs and spices.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Optional: Parmesan cheese for extra richness
Instructions
- Season chicken breasts with salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, onion powder, and thyme.
- Heat olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken breasts for 5-6 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature 165°F / 74°C). Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt the remaining butter and sauté garlic for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Pour in chicken broth and heavy cream. Stir and bring to a gentle simmer.
- Return chicken to the skillet and spoon butter sauce over the top. Simmer for 3-4 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
- Garnish with fresh parsley (and Parmesan if desired) before serving.
Notes
- Pairs well with mashed potatoes, rice, or buttered vegetables.
- For extra flavor, marinate chicken in buttermilk or seasoned brine before cooking.
- Adjust cayenne pepper for your spice preference.
