Description

Tender Chicken Wrapped in Tortillas with a Rich, Creamy Cheese Sauce is a comforting baked dish featuring seasoned shredded chicken rolled in soft tortillas and smothered in a velvety homemade cheese sauce.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 8 small flour tortillas
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 tsp salt (for sauce)
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper (for sauce)
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F) and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, season shredded chicken with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Spoon chicken evenly onto tortillas and roll tightly.
  4. Place rolled tortillas seam-side down in the baking dish.
  5. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter.
  6. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute to form a roux.
  7. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth and thickened.
  8. Stir in cheddar and mozzarella cheese until melted and creamy.
  9. Season sauce with salt and black pepper.
  10. Pour cheese sauce evenly over tortillas.
  11. Bake for 20–25 minutes until bubbly and lightly golden.
  12. Garnish with parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use rotisserie chicken for convenience.
  • Add sautéed onions or peppers for extra flavor.
  • Broil for 2–3 minutes at the end for a golden top.
