Description

Smashed beef kebab with cucumber yogurt is a flavorful Middle Eastern–inspired dish featuring juicy spiced beef patties served with a cool, creamy cucumber yogurt sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup cucumber, finely diced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill or mint, chopped


Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine ground beef, grated onion, garlic, cumin, paprika, coriander, salt, and pepper.
  2. Mix gently until just combined.
  3. Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat and add olive oil.
  4. Divide beef mixture into portions and smash into flat kebab-style patties.
  5. Cook kebabs for 3–4 minutes per side until browned and cooked through.
  6. In a separate bowl, mix yogurt, cucumber, lemon juice, and herbs to make the sauce.
  7. Serve smashed beef kebabs hot with cucumber yogurt on the side or spooned on top.

Notes

  • Do not overmix beef to keep kebabs tender.
  • Serve with pita, rice, or salad.
