Description
Savory Polish sausage simmered and served with a creamy, tangy horseradish sauce—bold, comforting, and perfect as a hearty main or appetizer.
Ingredients
- 1 lb Polish sausage (kielbasa), sliced into rounds
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2–3 tablespoons prepared horseradish (to taste)
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
- Optional garnish: chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add sliced kielbasa and cook until browned on both sides. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, sauté onion until soft and lightly caramelized.
- Lower heat and stir in sour cream, horseradish, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Return sausage to the skillet and gently simmer for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Adjust seasoning to taste.
- Garnish with parsley and serve warm.
Notes
- Adjust horseradish for more or less heat.
- Serve with mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or rye bread.
- Do not boil the sauce to prevent curdling.
