Description

Savory Polish sausage simmered and served with a creamy, tangy horseradish sauce—bold, comforting, and perfect as a hearty main or appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Polish sausage (kielbasa), sliced into rounds
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 23 tablespoons prepared horseradish (to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Optional garnish: chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add sliced kielbasa and cook until browned on both sides. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté onion until soft and lightly caramelized.
  4. Lower heat and stir in sour cream, horseradish, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. Return sausage to the skillet and gently simmer for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  7. Garnish with parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • Adjust horseradish for more or less heat.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or rye bread.
  • Do not boil the sauce to prevent curdling.
