Description

Old time oven peach cobbler is a classic Southern dessert with juicy baked peaches and a golden, buttery crust that bakes up soft inside and crisp on top.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups sliced fresh or canned peaches (drained if canned)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F).
  2. Place melted butter into a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and granulated sugar.
  4. Stir in milk and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Pour batter evenly over the melted butter without stirring.
  6. In another bowl, mix peaches, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  7. Spoon peach mixture evenly over the batter.
  8. Do not stir; the batter will rise during baking.
  9. Bake for 45–50 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  10. Cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
  • Fresh, frozen, or canned peaches all work well.
  • Do not stir layers for best cobbler texture.
