Description
Old time oven peach cobbler is a classic Southern dessert with juicy baked peaches and a golden, buttery crust that bakes up soft inside and crisp on top.
Ingredients
- 4 cups sliced fresh or canned peaches (drained if canned)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F).
- Place melted butter into a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and granulated sugar.
- Stir in milk and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Pour batter evenly over the melted butter without stirring.
- In another bowl, mix peaches, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Spoon peach mixture evenly over the batter.
- Do not stir; the batter will rise during baking.
- Bake for 45–50 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
- Cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
- Fresh, frozen, or canned peaches all work well.
- Do not stir layers for best cobbler texture.
