Description

Maple Bourbon Pecan Chicken is a savory-sweet dinner dish featuring tender chicken breasts glazed in a rich maple-bourbon sauce and topped with crunchy toasted pecans. Perfect for an elevated weeknight meal or special occasion.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/3 cup bourbon
  • 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans, toasted
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the chicken breasts and sear for 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown and nearly cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  4. Reduce the heat to medium and add remaining butter, garlic, bourbon, maple syrup, Dijon mustard, soy sauce, and cayenne pepper to the skillet. Stir and simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Return the chicken to the skillet, spooning the sauce over the top. Cover and simmer for 8–10 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce is glossy.
  6. Sprinkle toasted pecans over the chicken and cook for 1 more minute.
  7. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or roasted vegetables.

Notes

  • To toast pecans, heat them in a dry skillet over medium heat for 3–4 minutes, stirring frequently until fragrant.
  • If you prefer a non-alcoholic version, substitute bourbon with apple cider or chicken broth.
  • Adjust the sweetness by using less maple syrup or adding a splash of vinegar for balance.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; reheat gently to preserve the sauce texture.
