Description

Decadent French toast stuffed with crispy bacon and cream cheese, drizzled with maple syrup for a sweet and savory breakfast treat.

Ingredients

  • 8 slices thick-cut bread (brioche or challah recommended)
  • 8 slices cooked bacon, crispy
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup (plus more for serving)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk (or half-and-half)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (for cooking)
  • Powdered sugar (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix softened cream cheese with 2 tablespoons maple syrup until smooth.
  2. Spread cream cheese mixture on 4 slices of bread. Top each with 2 slices of bacon, then cover with remaining bread slices to form sandwiches.
  3. In a shallow dish, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon.
  4. Dip each stuffed sandwich into the egg mixture, coating both sides well.
  5. Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook stuffed French toast for 3-4 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Serve warm with maple syrup and a dusting of powdered sugar, if desired.

Notes

  • Brioche or challah bread works best for extra fluffy texture.
  • You can prepare the bacon and cream cheese mixture ahead of time to save time in the morning.
  • Try adding chopped pecans or walnuts for extra crunch.
