Description
Lasagna rolls are a creative and fun twist on classic lasagna, featuring pasta sheets rolled with ricotta, spinach, and meat or marinara sauce, baked with melted cheese on top.
Ingredients
- 12 lasagna noodles
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (plus extra for topping)
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 large egg
- 2 cups fresh spinach, chopped (optional: sautéed)
- 2 cups marinara sauce (or meat sauce)
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Fresh basil or parsley, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and lay flat on parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta, 1 cup mozzarella, Parmesan, egg, spinach, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Spread about 2 tablespoons of the ricotta mixture evenly over each noodle.
- Roll each noodle up tightly and place seam-side down in the prepared baking dish.
- Pour marinara sauce over the rolls and sprinkle with extra mozzarella cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 10 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh basil or parsley before serving.
Notes
- You can use ground beef or sausage in the marinara sauce for a heartier version.
- These rolls can be prepared ahead of time and refrigerated until ready to bake.
- For a vegetarian version, stick with spinach and marinara sauce only.
- Freeze unbaked rolls for up to 2 months—just add extra bake time when cooking from frozen.
