Ingredients
- 1/2 pound unsalted butter
- 8 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon instant coffee granules
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 160°C (325°F) and butter an 8×12-inch baking dish.
- Melt the butter and chocolate together in a heatproof bowl over simmering water, stirring until smooth.
- Remove from heat and whisk in the eggs, coffee granules, vanilla extract, and sugar.
- In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Fold the dry ingredients into the chocolate mixture until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.
- Bake for 60 minutes, until the top is set and cracked but the center remains gooey.
- Cool slightly and serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
- The center should be soft and pudding-like, not fully set.
- Do not overbake or the dessert will lose its signature texture.
