Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound unsalted butter
  • 8 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon instant coffee granules
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 160°C (325°F) and butter an 8×12-inch baking dish.
  2. Melt the butter and chocolate together in a heatproof bowl over simmering water, stirring until smooth.
  3. Remove from heat and whisk in the eggs, coffee granules, vanilla extract, and sugar.
  4. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Fold the dry ingredients into the chocolate mixture until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.
  7. Bake for 60 minutes, until the top is set and cracked but the center remains gooey.
  8. Cool slightly and serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
