Description
Hot honey fried shrimp are crispy, golden shrimp tossed in a sweet and spicy honey glaze, delivering the perfect balance of heat and crunch.
Ingredients
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 1/2 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons hot sauce
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
Instructions
- Place shrimp in a bowl and pour buttermilk over them; marinate for 15 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet to 175°C (350°F).
- Dredge shrimp in the flour mixture, shaking off excess.
- Fry shrimp in batches for 2–3 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Remove shrimp and drain on paper towels.
- In a small saucepan, warm honey, hot sauce, red pepper flakes, and apple cider vinegar over low heat.
- Toss fried shrimp in the hot honey sauce until evenly coated.
- Serve immediately while hot and crispy.
Notes
- Adjust hot sauce and red pepper flakes to control spice level.
- Serve with coleslaw, rice, or as a taco filling.
- Do not overcrowd the pan while frying.
