Description

Hot honey fried shrimp are crispy, golden shrimp tossed in a sweet and spicy honey glaze, delivering the perfect balance of heat and crunch.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar


Instructions

  1. Place shrimp in a bowl and pour buttermilk over them; marinate for 15 minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet to 175°C (350°F).
  4. Dredge shrimp in the flour mixture, shaking off excess.
  5. Fry shrimp in batches for 2–3 minutes until golden and crispy.
  6. Remove shrimp and drain on paper towels.
  7. In a small saucepan, warm honey, hot sauce, red pepper flakes, and apple cider vinegar over low heat.
  8. Toss fried shrimp in the hot honey sauce until evenly coated.
  9. Serve immediately while hot and crispy.

Notes

  • Adjust hot sauce and red pepper flakes to control spice level.
  • Serve with coleslaw, rice, or as a taco filling.
