Description

A crispy, cheesy homemade Mexican pizza inspired by the popular fast-food favorite, layered with seasoned meat, refried beans, tortillas, taco sauce, and melted cheese.

Ingredients

  • 4 medium flour tortillas
  • 1/2 lb (225 g) ground beef
  • 1/2 cup refried beans
  • 1/2 cup taco sauce
  • 1 cup shredded Mexican cheese blend
  • 1/4 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for frying tortillas)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions
  • 1/4 cup sour cream (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to the beef. Stir well and cook for 2–3 minutes.
  3. In another skillet, heat vegetable oil and lightly fry each tortilla until crispy. Place on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  4. Spread refried beans over one crispy tortilla.
  5. Add a layer of seasoned beef on top of the beans.
  6. Place another tortilla on top to form a sandwich.
  7. Spread taco sauce over the top tortilla.
  8. Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over the sauce.
  9. Add diced tomatoes, sliced olives, and green onions.
  10. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for about 8–10 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
  11. Remove from the oven, slice like a pizza, and serve with sour cream if desired.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground beef with ground chicken or turkey.
  • For a vegetarian version, replace meat with seasoned black beans.
  • Air frying or baking tortillas can reduce oil usage.
  • Add jalapeños for extra spice.
