Description
A crispy, cheesy homemade Mexican pizza inspired by the popular fast-food favorite, layered with seasoned meat, refried beans, tortillas, taco sauce, and melted cheese.
Ingredients
- 4 medium flour tortillas
- 1/2 lb (225 g) ground beef
- 1/2 cup refried beans
- 1/2 cup taco sauce
- 1 cup shredded Mexican cheese blend
- 1/4 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/4 cup sliced black olives
- 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for frying tortillas)
- 2 tablespoons chopped green onions
- 1/4 cup sour cream (optional, for serving)
Instructions
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to the beef. Stir well and cook for 2–3 minutes.
- In another skillet, heat vegetable oil and lightly fry each tortilla until crispy. Place on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- Spread refried beans over one crispy tortilla.
- Add a layer of seasoned beef on top of the beans.
- Place another tortilla on top to form a sandwich.
- Spread taco sauce over the top tortilla.
- Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over the sauce.
- Add diced tomatoes, sliced olives, and green onions.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for about 8–10 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
- Remove from the oven, slice like a pizza, and serve with sour cream if desired.
Notes
- You can substitute ground beef with ground chicken or turkey.
- For a vegetarian version, replace meat with seasoned black beans.
- Air frying or baking tortillas can reduce oil usage.
- Add jalapeños for extra spice.
