Description

Crispy fried apple rings coated in a cinnamon sugar mixture, making a delicious fall-inspired snack or dessert.

Ingredients

  • 3 large apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions

  1. Peel and core apples, then slice into 1/4-inch thick rings.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk milk, egg, and vanilla until combined.
  4. Gradually mix wet ingredients into dry ingredients until a smooth batter forms.
  5. Heat oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Dip apple rings into batter, allowing excess to drip off, then carefully place into hot oil.
  7. Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  8. In a small bowl, mix 1/2 cup sugar with 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Toss fried apple rings in cinnamon sugar while warm.
  9. Serve immediately, optionally with caramel or vanilla ice cream.

Notes

  • Best served warm and fresh for maximum crispiness.
  • Adjust cinnamon sugar coating to taste.
  • You can bake them at 400°F (200°C) for 15 minutes as a lighter option.
