Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 croissants, sliced in half
  • 4 slices cheddar or American cheese

Instructions

  1. Heat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over high heat.
  2. Divide ground beef into 4 loose balls and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Place beef balls onto the hot skillet and smash flat with a spatula.
  4. Cook for 2–3 minutes until a crust forms, then flip.
  5. Add cheese slices on top and cook for another 1–2 minutes until melted.
  6. Lightly butter the cut sides of croissants and toast in a skillet until golden.
  7. Spread mayonnaise or sauce on croissant bottoms.
  8. Add smashed burger patties, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles.
