Description
Croissant smash burgers feature juicy smashed beef patties with melted cheese, served inside buttery, flaky croissants for an indulgent twist on the classic burger.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef (80/20)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 croissants, sliced in half
- 4 slices cheddar or American cheese
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 cup caramelized onions (optional)
- Lettuce leaves
- Sliced tomatoes
- Pickles
- Mayonnaise or burger sauce
Instructions
- Heat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over high heat.
- Divide ground beef into 4 loose balls and season with salt and pepper.
- Place beef balls onto the hot skillet and smash flat with a spatula.
- Cook for 2–3 minutes until a crust forms, then flip.
- Add cheese slices on top and cook for another 1–2 minutes until melted.
- Lightly butter the cut sides of croissants and toast in a skillet until golden.
- Spread mayonnaise or sauce on croissant bottoms.
- Add smashed burger patties, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles.
- Top with croissant lids and serve immediately.
Notes
- Use high heat for the crispiest smash burger crust.
- Do not overwork the beef to keep burgers juicy.
