Description

Creamy Garlic Herb Cajun Chicken is a flavorful and indulgent dish featuring juicy, pan-seared chicken breasts coated in a rich, garlicky Cajun cream sauce. With aromatic herbs and a touch of spice, this easy one-pan recipe is perfect for a cozy dinner served over pasta, rice, or mashed potatoes.

Ingredients

  • 2 large chicken breasts (halved horizontally for 4 cutlets)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme (or 1 tsp fresh thyme)
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken cutlets with Cajun seasoning, salt, and black pepper on both sides.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and sear for 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from pan and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté minced garlic for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Pour in chicken broth and heavy cream, scraping up any browned bits from the pan. Bring to a gentle simmer.
  5. Stir in Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, paprika, and thyme. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  6. Return the chicken to the skillet and spoon the creamy sauce over the top. Simmer for 2–3 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  7. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve hot over pasta, rice, or mashed potatoes.

Notes

  • Adjust the spice level by using more or less Cajun seasoning.
  • Substitute heavy cream with half-and-half for a lighter version.
  • Add spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, or mushrooms for extra flavor and texture.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheated gently with a splash of cream or broth.
