Description

These rich and decadent chocolate mousse brownies combine a fudgy brownie base with a light and creamy chocolate mousse topping for the ultimate dessert indulgence.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 8 oz semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream (for mousse)
  • 8 oz semisweet chocolate, chopped (for mousse)
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for mousse)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for mousse)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a heatproof bowl over simmering water, melt butter and chocolate together until smooth. Remove from heat.
  3. Whisk in sugar, then beat in eggs and vanilla until glossy and combined.
  4. Fold in flour and salt until just incorporated. Spread batter evenly into prepared pan.
  5. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Allow to cool completely.
  6. For the mousse: Melt chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second intervals until smooth. Let cool slightly.
  7. In a large bowl, whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
  8. Gently fold cooled melted chocolate into whipped cream until combined.
  9. Spread mousse evenly over cooled brownies and refrigerate at least 2 hours before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For extra indulgence, top with shaved chocolate or cocoa powder before serving.
  • Chill overnight for firmer mousse texture.
  • Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
