Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds sirloin or ribeye steak
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 cup shredded cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese
- 1/3 cup sliced jalapeños (fresh or pickled)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Fresh parsley or green onions for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Remove steak from the refrigerator 20 minutes before cooking.
- Season steak on both sides with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet or grill pan over high heat.
- Sear steak for 3–4 minutes per side (or to desired doneness).
- Reduce heat to medium and add butter to the pan.
- Spoon melted butter over steak for 1 minute.
- Top steak with shredded cheese and jalapeños.
- Cover pan briefly until cheese melts.
- Remove from heat and rest steak for 5 minutes.
- Garnish and serve hot.
