Description

Flaky puff pastry filled with caramelized apples and drizzled with caramel sauce for a quick and delicious fall dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup caramel sauce (plus more for drizzling)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla. Cook for 5-6 minutes until apples are tender and caramelized.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in 1/4 cup caramel sauce. Let mixture cool slightly.
  4. Roll out puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Cut into 4 squares.
  5. Spoon apple mixture into the center of each square. Fold over to form a triangle or rectangle and press edges with a fork to seal.
  6. Brush tops with egg wash and place on prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes, until golden brown and puffed.
  8. Drizzle with extra caramel sauce before serving.

Notes

  • Best served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
  • You can prepare the apple filling ahead of time and store in the fridge for up to 2 days.
