Description

Bailey’s Trifle is a luscious, boozy dessert layered with rich chocolate cake or brownies, silky Bailey’s-infused custard, fluffy whipped cream, and chocolate shavings. This indulgent trifle is perfect for holidays, parties, or whenever you crave a decadent Irish cream dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1 chocolate cake or batch of brownies, baked and cooled
  • 1 (3.4 oz) package instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 1/2 cup Bailey’s Irish Cream (divided)
  • 1 (8 oz) container whipped topping or 2 cups heavy cream, whipped
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chocolate shavings
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped toasted hazelnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chocolate pudding according to package directions using 2 cups of milk and 1/4 cup Bailey’s Irish Cream. Whisk until thickened and smooth. Chill until set.
  2. Cut the cooled cake or brownies into small cubes.
  3. In a large trifle bowl or individual dessert cups, begin layering: start with a layer of cake cubes, drizzle lightly with remaining Bailey’s (optional), then add a layer of pudding, followed by whipped topping.
  4. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with whipped topping on top.
  5. Sprinkle with chocolate shavings, drizzle caramel sauce, and add chopped nuts if desired.
  6. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
  7. Serve chilled and enjoy this creamy, chocolatey Irish-inspired treat.

Notes

  • For a non-alcoholic version, substitute Bailey’s with Irish cream coffee creamer.
  • Can be made a day ahead — it tastes even better as the flavors blend overnight.
  • Use homemade chocolate custard instead of pudding for a richer flavor.
  • Layer in individual dessert cups for an elegant presentation.
